Maxine Cooke Russell

Maxine Cooke Russell, age 89, of 181 Williamson St., Troy, died Monday, April 28, 2008 at Autumn Care of Biscoe, NC. Mrs. Russell was born February 26, 1919 in Montgomery County, NC, the daughter of the late Walter D. and the late Vinnie (Hunsucker) Cooke. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob C. Russell, Sr. and son, Jacob C. (Chuck) Russell, Jr. She was a member of First Baptist Church and a retired employee of Capels, Inc. She is survived by one daughter, Linda R. Ray and husband, Jim of Troy; one sister: Rachel Haywood of Albemarle; two grandsons: Jimi Ray and wife, Angie, Shawan Russell and wife, Melissa; 2 great-grandsons: Austin Ray and Andrew Ray. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:30-8:00pm at First Baptist Church, 401 E. Main St., Troy; other times at the home. The funeral will be Thursday at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church with Dr. Phillips L. McRae officiating. Burial will be in Southside Cemetery, S. Main St., Troy.
