Mavine Matthews Cox, age 87, of 208 Hawthorne Dr., Asheboro died Monday, May 11, 2009 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro.Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2009 at 3:00 PM at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. George Roberson and Rev. Jean Nall officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.She was a native of Fuquay Springs, NC where she graduated high school in 1939. She graduated from Vocational Beauty School in 1955 and was the operator of Mavine's Beauty Shop for 40 years. She was a charter and active member of the former Grace United Methodist Church for 50 years and was presently a member of New Union United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband, W.R. Cox of the home; sons, Russell Cox and his wife Delores of Greensboro, NC, Jimmie Cox and his wife Cynthia of Asheboro, NC; grandchildren, Melissa, David, Eric Cox and Kim Farmer and 7 great grandchildren.The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 from 7:00 - 9:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC and other times at her home.
