Mattie Bernice Gray

Mattie Bernice Gray, 88 passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at her home in Mansfield, Texas. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Mt. Shepherd United Methodist Church Cemetery, Mt. Shepherd Church Road, Asheboro with Rev. Terri Howard officiating. Mattie was born and grew up in Mansfield, Texas. After graduating from Mansfield High School in 1941, she attended Arlington College where she met her late husband, Capt. Lloyd Dixon Gray. She and Lloyd moved to Asheboro in 1966. She returned to Mansfield in 2010. Survivors: Children, Sallie Gay Maxwell, Max D. Gray, Thomas C. Gray, Patti L. Gray, Mattie G. Johnson; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Bonnie Withers and Brenda Smith. Pugh Funeral Home in Asheboro is serving the Gray family.
