Mary S. Small, age 74, of 5477 Jesse Small Rd., Randleman died Friday, October 10, 2008.
Her greatest love besides her Lord & Savior Jesus Christ was her husband L.J., children, in-laws, grandchildren, great grandchildren and sisters. Mom was a simple woman who loved to laugh and have fun. Mom and dad loved to travel and she was always the lively "fun-maker" during family vacations and get- togethers. Mom worked hard along side her husband L.J. running their "Rolling Acres" farm and was his faithful companion for 57 years. Mom loved her church, church family and Gods word as evidenced by the multitude of personal bible study notes found throughout her home. Our mother was one of the most giving, selfless, sweet, sincere and loving persons we knew. Her mark on our life is profound. She never complained or cried over her illness and her grace and peace in death will leave a memory and example that her children and grandchildren will never forget. We "Love You To Pieces" mom and will miss you forever. Mrs. Small is preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Cleveland and Lilla Bessie Hall Sheppard; sister, Lilla Opal Sheppard Hemphill and granddaughter, Chloe True Curtis.
She is survived by her husband: L.J. Small; one son: Cleve Small; Daughter Sabrina and her husband, Robert "Bobby" Spencer; daughter Melissa Small; daughter Jodi and her husband, Gary Curtis; grandchildren, Ben and his wife, Beth Spencer; Jessica and her husband Christian Hammer; Hank Spencer; Luke Spencer; Jesse Small; Josiah Small; Samuel Curtis; and Ethan Curtis; great grandchildren, Spencer Hammer; Preston Hammer and Charlotte Spencer; four sisters: Mildred Fields, Ella Mae Hobbs, Jewel Cox, and Peggy Lineberry; and numerous beloved nieces and nepews.
