Mary Ellen Lineberry

April 13, 1934 — July 5, 2024

Franklinville

Mary Ellen Lineberry passed away on July 5, 2024 at her home.

She was born in the small community of Grays Chapel, North Carolina on April 13, 1934 and was the daughter of Hobart Roscoe Lineberry and Hilda Zone Lineberry. She was a graduate of Grays Chapel High School and attended Pfeiffer College where she studied business administration. She was a member of Grays Chapel Church. Her employment years were varied and exciting. She was an office administrator in the 1960’s and a private detective in the 1970’s. She obtained her real estate license and developed a mobile home park that she managed for many years. Mom returned to Grays Chapel to take care of her mother in 1998 and was her main caregiver until she passed at 100 years old. Of all her interests, she loved learning, especially in her arts and crafts group that she met with each week in Archdale. She was an excellent writer and wrote many poems, letters to the editor and historical writings of growing up in rural North Carolina. Mom loved her cats! She never turned one away and took care of them for many years. There are three fat cats left at the farm. Mom loved a good laugh and true crime mysteries. She will be missed by so many people. Thank you to the community of Grays Chapel for helping so much, also her many caregivers. She loved each of them. She is survived by her daughter, Janet Ellen Shover and her husband Cliff. A graveside memorial will be at Grays Chapel Church on Friday, July 12, 2024 at 2:00 pm.
