Mary Lee Coltrane Cox, age 83, of Asheboro died Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro. Mrs. Cox was born September 10, 1931 in Asheboro the daughter of John Allen and Lula Mae Poole Coltrane.
Mrs. Cox was a native of Randolph County, formerly employed with Steadman's of Asheboro for 29 years and retired from Bossong Hosiery of Asheboro. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She also loved to paint and listen to Bluegrass Gospel. In addition to her parents Mary is preceded in death by her son, Emmett Wayne Cox, sister, Kathleen Coltrane and brother, Richard Coltrane.
She is survived by her husband: Emmett H. Cox, daughters: Cindy C. Caviness and husband Elton of Asheboro, Betty Sue Walker and husband Rogon of Seagrove and Bonnie Purvis and husband Jeff of High Falls; sons: Larry Cox and wife Margie of Franklinville, Jerry Cox and wife Donna of Troy; 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; sister: Sue C Hussey of Asheboro; brothers: Thurman Coltrane of Asheboro, Gilbert Coltrane and wife Mary of Asheboro and Johnny Coltrane and wife Pat of Ellerbe.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 26, 2015 from 3:00 - 4:00 PM at Landmark Baptist Church, 2816 Spoons Chapel Road in Asheboro. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 4:00 PM with Rev. Frank Barrett and Dr. Charles Fleshman officiating. Burial will follow at West Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, 1739 Westchapel Road in Asheboro.
