Mary "Dee Ann" Fogleman Julian, 78, passed away on Tuesday morning, August 23, 2016 at her home. She was a bulwark of strength for her children, grandchildren, and friends.
Dee Ann was born on December 17, 1937 and was the ninth of thirteen children of Dewitt and Moleter Fogleman of Randleman, NC where she grew up with her six brothers and six sisters. She graduated from Randleman High School. Dee Ann was a cheerleader and star basketball player and organized community service activities for herself and her friends.
Dee Ann's career at Eveready Battery in Asheboro culminated as a Quality Control Inspector. She also served in the lab there.
In addition to her husband Carl "Tommy" Melvin Julian, Jr., she is survived by her daughter, Alisa Hope Julian, and her son Anthony "Tony" Glenn Julian both of Randleman. Also, two living sisters, Nancy Morgan of Seagrove, and Judy Walker of Randleman, and two brothers, Doc Fogleman of Stone Mountain, Ga., and Robert Fogleman of Hillsville, NC. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Kathryn "Kate" Graham, Kathleen Brown, Margaret "Maggie" Graham, Allison Hopkins, and Brooks Julian. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren: Kalisa Pryce, Mason Brown, Kinsley Hopkins, and Kylie Hopkins. Dee Ann also has many beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Carl Melvin Julian, III, and siblings: Jack Fogleman, Sarah Carter, Pat Lamb, Earman "O'Boy" Fogleman, J.W. Fogleman, Myra Jean Atkins, David "Bud" Fogleman, and Dorothy Jenkins.
Dee Ann was an active member of Pleasant Garden Baptist Church and formerly of Bethany Methodist Church. She was in the Thankful Hearts Sunday School Class at Pleasant Garden. At Bethany, Dee Ann was the Children's Ministry Coordinator, taught Sunday School, was a member of the United Methodist Women, and a Lay Leader. She was an avid walker at the Randleman Gym for many years. Dee Ann was a line dancer, a traveler, a reader, a fabulous cook, and she had a bevy of hummingbirds and bluebirds at her feeders in season.
The family will receive friends at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 S. Main St, Randleman on Friday evening, August 26, 2016 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Pat Dixon and Rev. Mike Barrett officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro.
