Mary Joyce Auman, age 82, of Asheboro was finally welcomed into her Saviors arms on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at Abbotts Creek Care and Rehabilitation, Lexington. Mrs. Auman was born January 8, 1930 the daughter of Clyde and Thelma Purdee. Mrs. Auman was a native of Lexington and a member of First Baptist Church in Asheboro. She was an executive secretary with Stedman Manufacturing for 29 years and retired from Courier Tribune after 11 years of service. Joyce was a very loving and giving wife, mother and grandmother. She would do just about anything for her family. Joyce never met a stranger as she was the epitome of friendliness. She could never say enough about how blessed she was to have June as her husband. They were the best of friends and enjoyed traveling together and volunteering in the community and at First Baptist Church. She loved Jesus, people and "having a good time". She loved First Baptist Church and especially enjoyed being with younger people there. She truly loved life and giving to others, watching birds and collecting bird figurines. She enjoyed cross-stitching and was an avid reader. She is survived by her husband: June Auman of the home, son: Ken Auman and his wife, Debbie of Lexington, daughter: Myra Gebbie and her husband, Jack of Greensboro, grandchildren: Ashley Auman and Callie Auman both of Lexington, Ben Gebbie, Emily Gebbie and Sarah Gebbie all of Greensboro. The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 27, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church, 133 North Church Street, Asheboro with Dr. John Rogers officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Local Missions, 133 North Church Street, Asheboro, NC 27203 The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff and caregivers at Abbott's Creek Care and Rehabilitation Center, Lexington for the compassionate care given to Joyce and family.
