Mary Josephine Parsons

Mary Josephine Parsons, age 81, of Mt Gilead died Friday, January 10, 2014 at FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital, Troy. Jo was born September 14, 1932 at Richmond County, the daughter of Mason Anderson and Molly Bertha Macon Greene. She was an active member of Holly Mount Baptist Church where she served in various areas including Sunday School teacher, member of the adult choir, benevolence committee and director of church Christmas plays. She was a loving wife, mother, neighbor and friend. Jo was known for the many cakes she baked for friends and loved ones. She was owner and operator of Jo's Fashions for many years. Jo is preceded in death by her parents and her seven siblings. She is survived by her husband of over 63 years: Clarence Parsons; children: Imogene P. Cagle (Phillip) of Mt. Gilead, Carol P. Liske (Mike) of Mt. Gilead, Shirley P. Poplin of the home and her friend Joe Dawkins, Willard Parsons (Betty) of Biscoe; seven grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren. As was her request, there will be no services. Visitation held at her home at your convenience. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Holly Mount Baptist Church, Benevolent Fund, c/o Don Thompson, 271 Brewer Farm Rd., Mt. Gilead, NC 27306.
