Mary Lou Glenn Petty Hill, age 82 of DeKalb, IL died April 10, 2018, at North Myrtle Beach, SC. Lou was born October 21, 1935, in Randleman, NC to the late William and Mae Hanner Glenn. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Donald Petty, two sisters, Ruth Hill of Randleman, NC and Martha Brown of Asheboro, N.C.
Surviving is her husband Donald Hill of DeKalb, one son Scott Hill and his wife Judith of Winston-Salem, NC, brother Bill Glenn and his wife Sue of Randleman, NC, and Paul Glenn and his wife Pat of Omaha, Neb. Paul is a cousin loved like a brother and Irvin Brown, brother-in-law of Asheboro, NC.
Lou was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church and a current member of the First United Methodist Church in DeKalb, IL. She was a graduate of the Jones Business College of High Point and worked as the Office Manager of the DeKalb Chiropractic Clinic with her husband for twenty-two years. She was a loving wife and mother and possessed a natural talent of seeing the good and greatness in everyone she met.
She was appointed by the DeKalb County Board of Supervisors as a Police Merit Commissioner and served in that capacity for twenty-three years. She was proud of the professionalism of the DeKalb County Sheriff's Police Department and was known to say she thought they were one of the finest police agencies in the State of Illinois.
A graveside service for the burial of cremains will be April 22, 2018, at 2:00 pm at Mt Lebanon United Methodist Church Cemetery, 119 West River Road, Randleman, NC 27317. A memorial service will be held at a later date at her member church, the First United Methodist Church in DeKalb, Il.
The family requests that memorial gifts are made to Mt Lebanon Church Cemetery Fund.
