Mary Sanders Bowers

Mary Sanders Bowers, age 77, of 489 McCallum Rd, Candor died Friday, February 6, 2009 at her home. Mrs. Bowers was born August 23, 1931 in Cumberland, KY, the daughter of Thomas and Julia (Napier) Sanders. She was an active member of Long Hill Baptist Church and a retired textile worker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Adam Claude Bowers and son, Adam Claude Bowers, Jr. She is survived by five daughters: Brenda Parsons and husband, Johnny of Candor, Phyllis Beaman and husband, Holly of Troy, Donna Wilson and husband, Jackie, also of Troy, Beatrice Chappell and husband, Ricky of Sanford, Debbie Lemons and husband, Wally of Asheboro; one son: Vernon Bowers and wife, Nellie of Candor; 16 grandchildren, 8 step-grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 PM at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street, Troy; other times at the home. The funeral will be Monday at 2:00 pm at Community Baptist Church, Currie Rd., Candor with Rev. Fred Richardson, Pastor Larry Beaver and Pastor Ricky Chappell officiating.
