Mary Alice Merritt Bailey

Mary Alice Merritt Bailey, age 85, of Asheboro died Tuesday, January 29, 2008 at Kindred Hospital, Greensboro. Mrs. Bailey was a native of Randolph County, a member of Sunset Ave. Church of God and was retired from Union Carbide. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Bailey, parents, Willie Eugene and Martha Francis Merritt, brothers, Walter, William, John and Roy Merritt, and sisters, Rosa Dawson, Maggie Skeen, Ada Bunting, Hattie Chamblee, Sudie Williams, and Alta Ledwell. Mrs. Bailey was a avid gardener. She is survived by sister-in-law, Dorothy Merritt of Asheboro; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces and great great nephews; and her beloved cats Casey Iris and Roscoe. The family will receive friends Saturday, February, 2, 2008 from 1:00 - 2:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 2, 2008 at 2:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Boyd Byerly and Pastor Huey Turner officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.
