Marvin Vester "Doc" Routh, age 86, of 310 Peachtree Street in Asheboro died Saturday, October 18, 2008 at his home. Mr. Routh was born July 2, 1922 in Asheboro the son of Malcolm Monroe and Rosa Lamb Routh.
Mr. Routh attended Mt. Calvary Independent Baptist Church, was retired from Thomas Built Buses in High Point, and in addition to his parents he was preceeded in death by his wife, Geneva L. Routh.
He is survived by his Daughter: Brenda Poindexter and her husband Clarence of Asheboro; Sons: Ted Routh and his wife Toni of Asheboro, Larry Routh and his wife Sally of Sophia and Marvin Croker and his wife Libby of Richmond, VA; grandchildren: Tona Pierce, Dean Yates, Kenneth Yates, Tammy Waugh, Greg Routh, Marty Routh, Misty Stewart, Kimberly Maness, Keith Croker and Chris Lee; great grandchildren: Jennifer Auman, Talia Pierce, Josh Yates, Amanda Wery, Michael Routh, Gregory Routh, Kristy Rich and Victoria Jade Yates; great great grandchildren: Ayla Pierce, Azura Yates, Chloe Auman, McKenzie Rich and Gabriel Yates; sister: Ella Mae Cooper of Asheboro; brother: Baxter Routh of Sophia.
The family will receive friends Monday, October 20, 2008 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro. The funeral will be held Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Mt. Calvary Independent Baptist Church, 1206 Oakland Avenue in Asheboro with Pastor Neil C. Poole and Rev. Adrian Pugh officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Asheboro.
