Martha Kendrick

Martha Dunovant Kendrick, age 85, of Asheboro passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at her home. Mrs. Kendrick was born in Ridgeway, VA on July 29, 1932 to Wade and Martha Newman Dunovant. She was formerly employed with First National Banks in Leaksville and Lincolnton. She was also a homemaker who enjoyed cooking for others. Through the years, Martha helped her husband A.J. with the ministry at Asheboro First Wesleyan Church and other churches throughout the region. In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her son Stephen Kendrick, her sister, Ruby D. Cardwell, and her brothers, Warren, Lewis, Raymond, Tommy, and Henry Dunovant. Martha was a sweet and caring lady who had a tremendous love for God and her family. She had a cheery disposition and wore a constant smile. She is survived by her husband, Rev. A.J. Kendrick; daughter, Cindy Callicutt and husband Everett of Asheboro; grandchildren, Taylor Callicutt and wife Courtney, Trent Callicutt and wife Rachel, Julia Callicutt, and Tanner Callicutt all of Asheboro, Matt Kendrick and A.J. Kendrick both of Pleasant Garden; daughter-in-law, Sharon Kendrick of Pleasant Garden; and brother, Thomas E. Dunovant of Everett, WA. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 from 5:30-8:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro and other times at her home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Asheboro First Wesleyan Church, 825 Highland St., Asheboro with Rev. Wilson Harris, Rev. Mark C. Beane, and Pastor Elizabeth Bentley officiating. Burial will follow in the Callicutt Memorial Church Cemetery.
