Martha Phillips Hughes

Martha Phillips Hughes, age 78, of Asheboro, passed away on Monday, November 30, 2015 at her home. Ms. Hughes was born in Randolph County on July 18, 1937 to Dolph and Maxine Garren Phillips. Martha was retired from Bost Neckwear and was formerly employed with B.J. Console. Martha enjoyed canning and cooking, especially pecan pies. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Hughes of Asheboro; son, Ronald Hughes of Asheboro; grandchildren, Krystal Hughes, Ronald Hughes, Jr., Kimberly McDowell, and Jessica Reeder; great grandchildren, Christian Hughes, Cloie Hughes, and Chase Hughes; brothers, Robert Phillips of Asheboro, Richard Phillips of Efland, and George Phillips of Denton; and sister, Allene Phillips of Denton. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 3, 2015 from noon-1:15 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Ave. in Asheboro. A graveside service will follow on Thursday at 2:00 pm at the Pleasant Union Community Church Cemetery with Dr. Jody Harrison officiating.
