Martha Brantley Bunn Cleek

Martha Brantley Bunn Cleek, age 83, of Asheboro died Monday, November 29, 2010 at Brian Center Health and Retirement in Winston-Salem. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church, 420 West Walker Ave., Asheboro with Rev. Brian Gawf and Rev. Connie Weaver officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Park. Martha was born in Zebulon, NC on December 5, 1926 to Melvin and Pearl Bunn. She was a 1943 graduate of Bailey High School, Bailey, NC and a 1948 graduate of the Carolina General Hospital School of Nursing. She was formerly employed with Randolph Hospital as the Operating Room Supervisor. She married Dr. Thornton R. Cleek on February 28, 1961 and after his death returned to nursing, working for Hospice of Randolph for many years. Martha was a member of First Presbyterian Church. In addition to her parents and her husband, Martha was preceded in death by her sister, Madorah Bunn Marvel. She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Brantley Cleek Hubbard and her husband Glen of Clemmons, NC; sons, Bradley Carlyle Cleek and his wife Brenda of Liberty, NC, James Ritenour Cleek and his wife Carrie of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Kaley Stapleton, Garrett Hubbard, Grayson Cleek, and Owen Cleek; sisters, Geraldine Bunn Jones of Elm City, NC, Jennie Bunn Talmadge of Raleigh, NC, Carol Bunn Johnson of Raleigh, NC, Elaine Bunn Summerlin of Wilson, NC, Connie Bunn Baker of Wilson, NC; and brother, Jimmie Dale Bunn of Spartanburg, SC. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 from 6-8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC.
