Aven Marshall Emery, age 88, of Denton passed away on Monday, August 19, 2019 at High Point Medical Center.
Mr. Emery was born in Huntsville, AL on February 6, 1931 to Willie Samuel and Lena Mae Thurman Emery. Marshall served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was retired from Carolina Container after 20 years of service. Marshall lived according to God's word and was a 56-year member of United Church of God in High Point. In addition to his parents, Marshall was preceded in death by his daughter, Venita Journey, son, Tim Emery, granddaughter, Joanna Allen, son-in-law, Les Allen and siblings, Syble Ross, Opal Spivey, Edward Emery, and Ellis Emery. He was very musical and loved singing and playing the guitar. Marshall was a kind-hearted man who loved helping others and could fix anything.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Doris Hussey Emery; daughter, Melissa Emery Allen of Denton; granddaughter, Andrea Allen of High Point; son-in-law, Tim Journey and wife Shelia of Trinity; and sisters, Audrey Walker of Grantville and Janice Ashworth and husband Jerald of Asheboro.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Park.
