Marlene Ann Hopkins Simmons, age 69, of U.S. Hwy 220 Bus. S., Asheboro died Thursday, December 3, 2009 at High Point Regional Hospital, High Point.Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 6, 2009 at 2:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. John S. Rogers and Rev. Mark Hall officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.Mrs. Simmons was a native of Bristol, VA and a member of First Baptist Church. She was an unselfish, loving, caring and giving person with a deep solid faith. Mrs. Simmons greatest joy was her family and she was a grandmother extraordinaire. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Garnette Wampler Hopkins, her sister, Judy H. Rutter and her son, Andy Simmons.She is survived by her husband, Gary D. Simmons; daughter: Ritchie Dee Simmons of Seagrove; brother, Jimmy D. Hopkins of Asheboro; sister, Barbara S. Nance of Asheboro; granddaughter, Melinda Saunders; great granddaughter, Danasia Harris; 4 nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends Sunday, December 6, 2009 from 12:30 - 2:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC.
