Marie Hunter Ward

Marie Hunter Ward, age 91, of Troy died Sunday, January 12, 2014 at her home. Marie was born August 20, 1922 at Gastonia, NC, the daughter of John A and Margaret Marie Shufurd Hunter, Sr. She retired with thirty plus years of service from Parkdale Mills of Gastonia. At the time of her retirement she was secretary to the president of Parkdale Mills. Marie is preceded in death by her parents and one brother, John A. Hunter, Jr. Marie enjoyed her animals more than anything, especially her dogs. She loved gardening, working in her flowers and reading books about Charleston. She is survived by two sons: William Ward of Troy, Joe Ward of Moss Lake; one daughter: Peggy Franks and husband, Trent Pardue of Troy; one brother: James Hunter of Greensboro; 2 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; 2 nieces: Kim Denton and Lee Hunter, both of Gastonia. Services will be private. The family would like to especially thank grandson Jason Nash and wife, Angie for the wonderful care given to Marie.
