Margaret Purvis Maness, 81, of Asheboro went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 15, 2022. Margaret was the daughter of Edgar and Bonnie Purvis and born on September 4, 1941 in the High Falls Community of Moore County.
She is survived by her husband Harrison Maness of the home.
Margaret leaves behind one daughter, Mitzi Maness Upton and husband Kevin of Wake Forest, NC. She was the proud grandmother of two grandchildren, Samuel Upton of Charlotte and Martha Upton of New York.
She was a beloved wife, devoted mother, and a loving grandmother known affectionately as MaToot. Margaret was a member of Asheboro First Wesleyan Church for 55 years and devoted much of her time in service to her church and community.
Her happiest days were spent with family and friends, gardening, traveling to her beloved NC mountains and reading her magazines and cookbooks, looking for a new recipe or blooming plant for her beautiful yard. She had a special gift for quietly caring for and helping others in need. Her faith and devotion to her church was always a shining light and an inspiration to others. Her smile was infectious and her witty sense of humor could charm all who knew her. Her greatest joy was when she and Harrison spent time with their grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Margaret was preceded in death by her sisters, Patsy Harwood and Betty Sheppard, and brother, Jimmy Purvis. Also, brothers-in-law, Ben Harwood, Ronald Boone, James Sheppard, Edward Maness, Jack Reeves and Phillip Auman.
