Mardecia Hopkins Maness, age 100, of 500 Mountain Top Dr., Asheboro died Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home, Asheboro.Funeral services will be held Friday, September 18, 2009 at 3:00 pm at Central United Methodist Church with Dr. Mark J. Key and Rev. Barry Queen officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.Mrs. Maness was a native of Randolph County, was retired from Acme-McCrary Corporation after 45 years of service and was a devoted homemaker and seamstress. She was a life long and the oldest living member of Central United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Christian Homemakers Class and the Diane Johnson Circle. Mardecia was the daughter of Rufus Jr. and Maggie Sanders Hopkins. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Will Maness, brothers, Farley, Edward and Norman Hopkins, sisters, Thelma Hopkins, Bessie Holt Nance, Mary Frances Shaw and Mildred Farlow.She is survived by sisters, Nannie Cain of Asheboro, Nellie Jones of Taylorsville and several nieces and nephews.The family will receive friends Friday, September 18, 2009 from 2:00-2:45 am at Central United Methodist Church, 300 South Main Street in Asheboro and other times at the home of Dr. Stanley Brower, 110 E.
