Manley "JR" Yow, age 87, of Randleman went home to be with his Lord Friday, April 1, 2011 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.
Mr. Yow was a native of Randolph County, a graduate of Randleman High School, and retired from Laughlin Hosiery Mill. JR was a Pearl Harbor Survivor and proud WWII Veteran. He was a member of Pearl Harbor Survivors Association NC Chapter for the last twenty years and served as chapter secretary for the past ten years. Mr. Yow was also a member of Randleman VFW, and long time member of Worthville United Methodist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, Manley and Eva Yow, brother, George Alan Yow, sister, Helen Miller.
He is survived by his wife: Edna Hudson Yow, of the home; daughters: Linda Webster, and her husband Tom, of Lexington; Patsy Wheeler of Randleman; sons: Ricky Yow, and his wife, Diane, of Pleasant Garden; Keith Yow of Randleman; grandchildren, Erica Wheeler of Randleman, Candice Dollyhite, and her husband, Tim of Mt Airy; Stephen Wheeler and his wife, Seleta of Randleman, Brian Webster, and his wife, Katrin of Asheboro, Stephanie Auman and her husband, Robbie of Supply, Shantell York of Pleasant Garden, Kenneth Yow of Franklinville, Ken Huff, and his wife Brook of Sophia, Richard Yow, and his wife Amber of Fort Drum, NY, Danny Webster of Winston- Salem, Laura DeLay, and her husband, Chris of Point Vedre Beach, FLA; 20 great grandchildren; sister: Ruth Whitaker of Asheboro; beloved pet and best friend Penny; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Monday, April 4, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 South Main Street, Randleman, NC. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, 600 South Main Street, Randleman with Rev. Keith Auman and Pastor Ricky Yow officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park with military rites by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
The family would like to give special "Thanks" to the nurses and doctors at Palliative Care at Moses Cone for the loving care and also their loving neighbors Jerry and Judy Hulin and Junior and Eva Bates.
