Madge Caviness Poole , age 97, of Autumn Care of Mocksville, N.C. , died Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Forsyth Hospital in Winston Salem, N.C. Mrs. Caviness Poole was born May 25, 1917 in Sanford, N.C. , the daughter of Alonzo Alexander and Mattie Austin ( Maness) Williams.
She retired after many years as Deli Manager at Food Line on Old Salisbury Rd. in Asheboro. In 2005, she became a resident of The Brian Center Health and Retirement Center in Winston Salem, N.C. In 2012, she became a resident of Autumn Care Retirement Center of Mocksville, N.C. Mrs. Caviness Poole was a devoted wife and loving mother to her three sons, taking pride in their service careers as a lawyer, public school principal, and a doctor. She loved gardening, flower arrangement and travel. During her years in Winston Salem, she spent many volunteer hours working with mentally and physically disabled children at Lowrance School. While living in Asheboro, she attended Oakhurst Baptist Church. During her years of residence in Winston Salem, Mrs. Caviness Poole attended Wake Forest Baptist Church.
Mrs. Caviness Poole was preceded in death by her husbands, Quinton Caviness and Kearney Poole; sisters, Ruby Goins and Jessie Boone; brothers, Harrison Williams, Flinton Williams , and Arnold Williams.
She is survived by three half-sisters, Lois Kinney, Juanita Hall and Louise Parks, all of Asheboro. She is survived by three sons, Quinton Harold Caviness of Winston Salem, NC, Ronnie Alfred Caviness of Clemmons, NC. and Dr. Perry Alonzo Caviness of Garner, NC; grandchildren Leigh Caviness, Austin Caviness, Wells Caviness, Ronnie Caviness II, Lesley Wood, and 9 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Saturday, February 28, 2015, from 1:00-2:00 P.M. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue , Asheboro NC. Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 PM in Pugh Funeral Home Chapel. Her grandson, Reverend Austin Caviness, Pastor of Salem Fork Christian Church at Dobson, NC, will be conducting the service. Burial will be at Randolph Memorial Park.
