Mabel VonCannon Wright

Mabel VonCannon Wright, age 93, a resident of Ridgewood Manor, Washington, NC died Friday, September 10, 2010 at Beaufort County Medical Center. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 12, 2010 from 1:00-2:30 p.m. at Huldah Baptist Church in Seagrove, NC, and the funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. officiated by Rev. Clay Davis and Rev. Jason Moore. Alton Smith, Mike Wright, Brandon Smith, Austin Smith, Kenny Gaskins, and Joshua Gaskins will serve as pallbearers. Mrs. Wright was born in Seagrove, NC on September 1, 1917 and was preceded in death by her husband the late Carl Lee Wright and two daughters Helen Gurganus and Hilda Edwards. Mrs. Wright was a graduate of Seagrove High School in 1934 and moved to Wilmar, NC in 1958 with her family. She retired from Hamilton Beach and was a long time member of Oak Grove Free Will Baptist Church where she sang in the choir. Mrs. Wright is survived by three sons; Darrell Wright of Efland, NC, Bill Wright and wife Janice of Asheboro, NC and J.B. "Cotton" Wright and wife Elaine of Supply, NC, and grandchildren; Carl "Alton" Smith, Crystal Gaskins, Carla Ayers, Teresa "Sissy" Smith, Tracey Jackson, Janet Lee Price, Sandra Brassard, Vickie Evans, Pam Sykes, Debbie Sykes, Mike Wright, Kim Phipps, Kristen Rowland, Michael Bradley Sellers and 27 great grandchildren and 24 great-great grandchildren. Arrangements made by Pugh Funeral Home of Asheboro.
