Mabel LaRose Sykes

Mabel LaRose Hayes Sykes, of Asheboro died Sunday, April 5, 2015 at her home. Mrs. Sykes was born in Randolph County to Carl and Grace Hayes. She was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd and retired from Galey and Lord. Mabel was a member of the Randolph Squares Square Dance Club where she loved to dance for many years. Mabel's true passion in life was her love for her family. Her upbeat personality was contagious and everyone she met felt loved and cared for. You could always depend on her for a smile, kind word, and always a hug. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Sykes was preceded in death by her sister, Louise H. McNeill, brother, Franklin Hayes and son-in-law, Richard E. McKenzie. She is survived by her husband, Leon "Pete" Sykes; son, David Sykes of Asheboro; daughter, Cathy LaRose McKenzie of Asheboro; granddaughter, Kady LaRose McKenzie of Asheboro; brother, Paul Hayes of Asheboro; sisters, Carlene Lucas, Bonnie Lambe and Martha Moore all of Asheboro. A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 9, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 505 Mountain Road, Asheboro. The family will receive friends following the memorial service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 505 Mountain Road, Asheboro, NC 27205. Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro is in charge of arrangements.
