Mabel Lenoir Wood Fields, age 87, beloved wife of 69 years, wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother and special to all she knew, passed away August 17, 2011. Mabel was born July 7, 1924, in Millboro, NC, the daughter of Percy and Gertrude Pugh Wood. Mrs. Fields enjoyed being a housewife, taking care of her family and thrilled to be outdoors around God's natural beauty. She was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church since her early childhood. In addition to her parents Mabel is preceded in death by her brothers, Roy and Jimmy Wood and her grandson, Dale Fields.
She is survived by her husband: Wesley Fields, of the home; daughters: Linda Swaim and her husband, Jim of Asheboro, Susan Fields and her husband, George of Silver Springs, Md., Annette Ferguson and her husband William of Asheboro, Lisa Fields of Randleman, Anita McKee and her husband, Tony of Asheboro; sons: Wallace Fields and his wife, Judy of Lexington, Eddie Fields and his wife, Brenda of Asheboro, Ronnie Fields and his wife, Ellen of Randleman, and Samuel Fields of Franklinville; 19 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren; sisters: Doris Wood of Randleman, Mary Lou Whitley of Norwalk, Conn., and Joanne Rumbley and her husband, Bobby of Franklinville.
The family will receive friends Thursday, August 18, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 South Main Street, Randleman, NC. The funeral will be held Friday, August 19, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Bethany United Methodist Church, 3650 Bethany Church Road, Franklinville
with Rev. Dr. Russell Brownworth officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
