Born June 13, 1916, she was a daughter of John Milton and Martha Lee Craven Brown. She attended Calvary United Methodist Church where she taught a ladies Sunday School Class. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Hugh Frank Brabham, Sr., son, Hugh Frank Brabham, Jr., sons-in-law, James Lloyd Bulla and Thomas Gerald Barrett; grandson, Brian Keith Brabham; step-grandson, Kelly Lewis Barrett; brothers, John Edgar (Wilma Jane Shoaf) Brown and Clyde Herbert and (Alice Garner Brown) and unnamed twin sisters who died at birth. Her hobbies included genealogy, gardening, traveling, working crossword puzzles and reading, but her greatest joy, other than her family, was sewing and needlework of any kind including smocking, tatting, embroidery, and quilting. She was, also, an excellent cook dishing up a delicious meal at a moment's notice. She approached any situation with in-depth thought and the consequences that would follow. Mama had a thirst for learning, never loosing her desire, eventually earning her GED with honors at Randolph Technical College at age 55. She instilled in her children good morals, a faith in God and doing your very best in every undertaking. Until this last battle, nothing was too big for Granny B to overcome. In lieu of flowers, family requests memorials be made to Calvary United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 4994, Asheboro, NC 27204 or Hospice of Randolph County, NC, P. O. Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27204.
