Lucy Leigh Lowdermilk Wright, age 89, of 1016 Worth St., Asheboro died Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Randolph Hospital.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 4, 2013 from 1:00-2:00 pm at Central United Methodist Church, 300 South Main Street, Asheboro, NC. Funeral services will follow on Saturday at 2:00 pm at Central United Methodist Church with Dr. Terry L. Matthews officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Wright was born in Randolph County on March 14, 1924 to Ross and Eva Winningham Lowdermilk. She was the valedictorian of her graduating class at Asheboro High School. She was a lifelong member of Central United Methodist Church and a member of the DAR. Lucy Leigh was formerly employed with the Randolph Public Library and Elam & Wright Accounting Firm. In addition to her parents, Lucy Leigh was preceded in death by her daughter Catherine Evans.
She is survived by her husband, G. Lewis Wright; son, Jim Wright and his partner Larry Davis of Greensboro, grandson, Doug Evans of Cary; granddaughter, Allison Evans of Winston-Salem; son-in-law, Dick Evans and his wife Gloria of Asheboro; niece, Eva Hardison and her husband David of Durham.
Memorials may be made to the Central United Methodist Church Building Fund, 300 South Main Street, Asheboro, NC 27203.
