Lucy Ivey Hardin, 97, passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home in Asheboro, NC. Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm Thursday, April 28, 2011 at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tom Stinson-Wesley and Rev. Douglas Gager officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Pugh Funeral Home 1 hour prior to the service and other times at the home of her daughter, Patty Sanders, 809-A Windermere Court, Asheboro.
Lucy was born on October 6, 1913 to Shelley H. Ivey and Ola Ward Ivey. She graduated from Grays Chapel High School and worked at Burlington Industries and Commonwealth Hosiery Mill. She married Virgil Lee Hardin in 1933. They were married until his death fifty-one years later. Lucy was a sweet spirit and a blessing to her family. She had been in declining health for the past four years.
Lucy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brother, Fred Ivey; her sisters, Myrtle Ivey and Juanita I. Lineberry. She is survived by her daughter Patty Hardin Sanders (Harris) of Asheboro; her granddaughters, Phoebe Routh Patterson (Anthony) of Summerfield and Penny Routh Kivett (Ryan) of Columbus, Ohio; step-grandchildren Don Sanders of Charlotte, Steve Sanders of Raleigh, Karen S. Clement (Mac) of Oak Ridge; great grandchildren, Caroline and Evan Patterson and Riley and Sarah Kivett, step-great grandchildren, Mandy and Maddy Clement; special niece, Wilma Stalker (Richard) of Franklinville and several other nieces and nephews.
