Lounette Upchurch

Lounette Harper Upchurch, age 85, of Asheboro died Monday, May 14, 2012 at her home. Mrs. Upchurch was born December 13, 1926 in Chatham County to Tandy Calvin and Fleta Bray Harper. She graduated as valedictorian of Bennett High School class and a member of Asheboro United Church of Christ. She retired from Burlington Industries in Asheboro after 40 years of service. Following her retirement, Mrs. Upchurch worked part-time at the Courier-Tribune. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Upchurch was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Upchurch. She is survived by her daughter, Jo Anne Ganey of Asheboro; sister, Dorothy Garner of Asheboro and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Thursday, May 17, 2012 from 12:30 - 1:45 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 pm at Oaklawn Cemetery with Rev. Carl Dunker and Rev. Tom Benedict officiating.
