Louise Sikes Payne

Ethel Louise Sikes Payne, passed away Wednesday morning November 2, 2016 after an extended illness. Mrs. Payne was born May 7, 1928 in Seagrove, NC to John and Ethel Sikes. She is preceded in death by her husband Mayberry Payne and son Paul M. Payne, brothers Nixon Sykes, Elbert Sykes and Woodrow Sykes and sisters Evelyn Sikes, Lillian Owens, Thelma Kivett, and Etta Myrick. She is survived by her daughter, Joy Taylor and son-in-law Bill Taylor of Cary, NC; grandchildren, Jason Taylor and wife Melissa of Athens, GA and Morgan Taylor and husband Keith Harrington of Charlottesville, VA; great grandchildren, Oren and Liya Taylor of Athens, GA and Ryleigh and Kendall Harrington of Charlottesville, VA; and sister, Ornie Mae Burell of Ocean Springs, MS. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Marilynn Payne of Norwood, NC and nieces Mary Stewart of Raleigh, NC and Deborah Bingham and husband Steve of Belmont, NC; and nephew, Howard Kivett and wife Joanna of Waynesboro, VA. Mrs. Payne, a lifetime resident of Asheboro, NC, enjoyed her garden, her flowers, and was a lover of animals, especially her pet Lilly. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Mrs. Payne's caregivers, Hilda May, Ann Hunt, Shelby McDaniel, Linda Skinner, Robin Taylor and Mallory Taylor. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, November 6, 2016 at Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Randolph SPCA, 160 North Park Street, Asheboro, NC 27203.
