Lola Maie Thomas Smith, age 74, of Asheboro died Thursday, September 11, 2014 at the Randolph Hospice House.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 15, 2014 at 2:00 pm at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Terry King officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Smith was born in Chatham County on August 25, 1940 to Chesley and Bertha Williams Thomas. Lola was retired from Randolph County Schools. She was a missionary with the Baptist Mission of Forgotten People of Jacksonville, FL and attended Freedom Baptist Church in Asheboro. In addition to her parents, Lola was preceded in death by her siblings Mary Stanly, LeRoy Thomas, James Thomas, and Chesley Thomas, Jr.
She is survived by her husband, David Smith; daughter, Vicki Kuhn of Hamilton, NJ; sons, Scott Hogan of Asheboro, Shawn Hogan and wife Jamie of Asheboro; grandchildren, Thomas Hogan, Madyson Hogan, Cody Hogan; sisters, Sarah Uylaky and husband Art of Meridian, CT, Carrie Voncannon and husband Larry of Asheboro, Pat McNeill and husband Allen of Asheboro; and brothers, Bob Thomas and wife Maude of Tucson, AZ, Michael Thomas and wife Sandy of Browns Mill, NJ, and W.R. Thomas of Asheboro.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 14, 2014 from 6:30-8:30 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Ave., Asheboro.
