The family of Lois A. Brown, age 76 originally from Dickenson County Virginia is celebrating her life as she left her earthly body on June 27, 2012. Lois lived her life with strength and conviction. After meeting, Richard T. Brown, Jr., the love of her life, they moved to the Washington, DC area and embarked on a journey that was beautiful and filled with adventure. They raised 6 successful children as well as 2 nephews and a host of neighborhood children. They traveled extensively through Europe and settled in the Asheboro area. The fruits of their life grew to include 13 grandchildren and 7 great children. Lois received the gift of a single lung transplant on December 17, 2003. It transformed her allowing for an extraordinary perspective on life. Her respect of this gift of life was evident as she fought to live the best life that she could filling it with family, fun and exploration. Lois was a committed Christian woman and gave of her time and money without reservation.
Although there will be a void in our lives, we will see her in ourselves, children and for generations to come. Ruhala; Grandchildren: Meaghann L. Denkenberger, Kevin J. Brown, Ashley-Marie K. Brown, Jesse L. Brown, Andrea L. Brown, Christopher M. Brown, Casey E. Brown, Andrew R. Swartzberg, Gregory M. Swartzberg, Muskie T. Bass Brown, Monica Lorraine Brown, Brandon Richard Ruhala, Corey Nelson Ruhala, Tyler Thomas Ruhala; Great Grandchildren: Hayden Matthew Brown, Adelaide Jane Brown, Alice Grace Denkenberger, Isabell Aldana Swartzberg, Ava Grace Swartzberg, Colin Andrew Casey-Swartzberg, Eli Harrison Swartzberg, and Isaiah Michael Tuppince-Brown.
The family will receive family and friends at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Ave, Asheboro, NC 27203 (336) 625-2171 on Friday evening, June 29, 2012 from 5 pm to 7pm.
Funeral Services on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 11:00 am at Brower's Chapel United Methodist Church, 1030 Brower's Chapel Road, Asheboro, NC 27205. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
