Lloyd Allen Watkins

Lloyd Allen Watkins, age 60, of Asheboro passed away Monday, July 29, 2013 at Randolph Hospital after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his father, Clinton Watkins and uncles, Bobby and J. O. Smith. Lloyd was an avid sports fan. If there was a ball involved, he loved it. In his earlier years Lloyd was an accomplished athlete. Lloyd loved people and everyone he met loved him. He will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his mother, Lula Harmon of Asheboro and uncle, Tommy Smith and his wife Phyllis of Asheboro. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at 1:00 pm at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Walter Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Ave., Asheboro and other times at his home and at the home of Tommy and Phyllis Smith, 725 South Main St., B-4, Asheboro. The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff at Randolph Hospital, the many doctors and especially the nurses in the Critical Care Unit who took excellent care of Lloyd for 47 days. Also, the family would like to thank Walter Vaughn and Mike Needham who took care of Lloyd's mother during his illness.
