James Lloyd Bulla of 1127 Tory Lane, Asheboro, NC passed away quietly in his sleep at Baptist Hospital on January 20th, 2013.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years Tonita Brabham Bulla, daughters Leanne Saunders and husband Jim of Asheboro, Carol Bulla-Smith and husband Brent of Charlotte, NC, foster daughter Roseanna Stanley Lasley and husband Joe of Asheboro, along with grandchildren Autumn Saunders and Cory Saunders of Asheboro, Nate Smith of Charlotte, foster grandchildren Justin Hall of Asheboro and Toni Hall of Winston-Salem. His parents George and Ina Moody Bulla and twin siblings Howard and Rachel Bulla preceded him in death. His extended family includes sisters-in-law Jocelyn Brabham Barrett and Kathleen Lewallen Brabham and mother-in-law Mabel Brown Brabham.
Lloyd graduated from Asheboro High School in 1951. He served in the Navy as a Boilerman aboard the tanker USS Platte A024 during the Korean Conflict. He was employed as a Fixer at Acme-McCrary Hosiery Mill; then was a Road Driver for McLean Trucking Company, Local 391, in Winston Salem, NC. He retired in 1994 from Yellow Freight Systems, Local 71, in Charlotte, NC. After retirement he enjoyed spending time gardening, mowing his yard and taking long walks through the woods with his beloved dog Molly.
He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 22nd from 6-8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Ave., Asheboro, and other times at his home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 23rd at 11AM at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel. Burial with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard will be at Randolph Memorial Park.
