Linda Ann Smith Dix, age 73, of Asheboro died Tuesday, August 9, 2016.
Linda was born September 2, 1942 in Guilford County to Richard and Mabel Allen Smith. She attended Guilford College and Asheboro Business School and retired from Randolph County Social Services after 22 years of service. Linda was a member of First E & R United Church of Christ. She loved her church and enjoyed singing inspirational songs with her choir and as a soloist. Linda was a talented artist and painted portraits as gifts for her friends. She was known for her kindness to all and for her loving spirit and her love of the Lord. In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen James Dix.
She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Choate and husband Randy of Glade Valley; sons, Mark Harris of Asheboro, Stephen James Dix, Jr and wife Kimberly of Pompano Beach, FL; grandchildren, Laura Ann Matthews and husband Neil, Wesley Dix Vanhoy, Larkin James Dix, Banyan Dix, great granddaughter, Maelyn Ann Matthews; sister, Carol Dyson and husband John of Climax; father and mother-in-law, James and Elizabeth Dix of Asheboro; brother-in-law, Walter Dix and wife Betty of Asheboro.
The family will receive friends Thursday, August 11, 2016 from 6 - 8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. Funeral services will be held Friday, August 12, 2016 at 11:00 AM at First E & R United Church of Christ, 221 Cliff Road, Asheboro with Rev. Dale Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in Canaan United Methodist Cemetery, Denton.
