Lillian McCoy Jackson "Mackie" Vick, age 98, of Asheboro passed away Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 27, 2014 from 12:30-1:30 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. Funeral services will follow on Saturday at 2:00 pm at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Hall and Dr. John S. Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.
Mrs. Vick was born in Morris Hill, VA on December 12, 1916 to the late Arthur Benjamin and Bertie Johnson Jackson. In addition to her parents, Mackie was preceded in death by her husband Ollie Vick and grandson Benjie Vick. She was a very active member of First Baptist Church in Asheboro. Mackie was known for her uplifting spirit and compassion for other people. She was an accomplished golfer and enjoyed traveling, cooking, and needlework. She had a great love for life and will always be remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to all.
She is survived by her son, Ben Vick and wife Delane of Asheboro; granddaughter, Teresa Johnson and husband James of Salisbury; grandson, Jackson Vick of Asheboro; and great grandson, Benjamin Vick of Asheboro, who she helped raise; and 7 more great grandchildren.
The family is eternally grateful to her caregiver and special friend, Holly Branch of Asheboro, the staff at Clapps Nursing Home, and to the staff at Cross Road Assisted Living for the wonderful care given to Mackie over the past months and years. You each have been a Godsend.
