Libby Berlene Allred Garner, age 87, of Seagrove passed away Saturday, December 5, 2020 in the Memory Care unit at Cross Road Retirement Community, Asheboro.
Libby was born January 14, 1933 the daughter of Dewey Ernest Allred and Maggie Emily Bruce Allred.
She was a native of Moore County. Libby was formerly employed by Ithaca Hosiery Mill as an inspector. A founding member of Grace Baptist Temple of Asheboro, she was a dedicated Christian. Libby had a heart for service, working countless hours in Sunday school and children's church. She was always ready to share her love of the Lord with anyone, but above all she loved bringing children to church on the bus ministry.
Libby was devoted to her family. She loved to host and cook, especially for Sunday gatherings. She enjoyed canning, sewing and quilting. Gardening was her favorite hobby - she had the ultimate green thumb. Married for nearly 50 years to the love of her life, "Bud", he would often sing to her, "I love you because you understand, dear; Every single thing I try to do; You're always there to lend a helping hand, dear; I love you most of all because you're you." She was a hard worker, always grateful to God for his blessings, and delighted in spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Libby was preceded in death by her husband: Donald Clifford Garner, granddaughter: Tina Suzanne Rose; sisters: Evelyn King and Joyce Davis; brothers: Merlin "Red", J.D., Felton, Larry, and Jerry Allred.
She is survived by son: Donald (Deborah) Garner of Asheboro; daughters: Susan (Milton) Chriscoe of Seagrove, and Gina Garner of Greensboro; grandchildren: Ginger Garner (Jeffrey Jablonski) of Greensboro, Jeremy (Chasity) Garner of Asheboro, Jason (Vicki) Garner of Asheboro; great grandchildren: Michael, William, James, Pierson, Cambridge and Kinley Garner; sisters: Dorothy Garner of Carthage, Brenda Allred of Seagrove; and brother: David Allred of Robbins.
A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Smyrna United Methodist Church Cemetery, 1924 Smyrna Church Road, Robbins, NC with Rev. Marc Myers and Rev. Edwin Moore officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Baptist Children's Homes of North Carolina, 204 Idol Street, Thomasville, NC 27360.
