Leonard John Cox

Leonard John "L.J" Cox, age 82, of Asheboro died Saturday, October 4, 2014 at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro. Mr. Cox was born July 30, 1932 the son of Lester Lloyd and Mary Ann Humble Cox. Mr. Cox was a native of Randolph County and member of Bethel Friends Meeting where he was faithful to God, family, church and friends. He was a cattle farmer for over 60 years and was a honest, loving, giving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers: Lloyd T. Cox, Lantford E. Cox, Leroy A. Cox, and sister: Linnie Mae C. Wright. He is survived by his wife of 63 years: Elaine B. Cox, daughters: Lisa Waisner and husband, Terry of Asheboro, NC, Lorelei Phillips and husband, Jarrett of Asheboro; one son: Rayvon Cox and wife, Doris of Asheboro; grandchildren:, Lana (Jeff) Johnson, Matthew (Kimberly) Waisner, Luke (Ashley) Cox, Mark (Amie) Waisner and Trever Phillips; great grandchildren: Emory Johnson, Selah Waisner and Emmalie Waisner; sisters: Lottie (Gene) C. VonCannon and Linda (Jackie) Parks. Mr. Cox will lie in state at the church from 1:00 to 1:45 pm prior to funeral service on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Bethel Friends Meeting, 2519 Bethel Friends Road, Asheboro with Rev. Timmy Strider, Dr. Bob Medford and Rev. Gary Waisner officiating. Burial will follow in the Meeting Cemetery with visitation following in the fellowship hall.
