Leon Cranford

Marion Leon Cranford, age 101, of 1925 North Pointe Dr., Randleman died Sunday, May 3, 2009 at Randolph Hospital, Asheboro.A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at 2:00 PM at the Asheboro City Cemetery, Salisbury St., Asheboro with Pastor Johnny R. Henderson and Gary Church officiating.Mr. Cranford was a native of Randolph County and married Ruth Edwards of Greensboro in 1926. Leon was the former manager of Piedmont Chair Company, and former owner of Cranford Coach Company and Dixie Ice & Coal Company. He was a member of Whispering Pines Presbyterian Church. Leon was preceded in death by his wife, and his brothers, C.L. Cranford, Jr. and S.L. Cranford.He is survived by his daughter, Carolyn C. Phillips of Asheboro, NC; grandsons, Bobby Phillips and his wife Patti of Asheboro, NC, John Phillips and his wife Julie of Asheboro, NC; granddaughter, Jane Wood and her husband Bob of Asheboro, NC; 8 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.Memorials may be made to Hospice of Randolph, P.O.
