Leo David Routh of Asheboro died at Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro on Monday, January 4, 2016.
He was born July 14, 1924 to Oscar Ervin Routh and Cora Lineberry Routh. Mr. Routh grew up in Bennett, North Carolina where he farmed and co-owned the Routh Flour Mill until he sold it and moved to Asheboro. Once in Asheboro he bought a service station which he ran until selling it to work for Klopman Mills/Burlington Industries where he worked as the Supervisor of Quality Control for thirty-seven years.
During his lifetime he served as a deacon and treasurer at Balfour Baptist Church. Mr. Routh was an avid golfer and gun enthusiast who loved hanging out with his buddies at Biscuitville and watching the Yankees. Mr. Routh was also a loving grandfather who loved to watch his granddaughters grow up and play sports.
Mr. Routh was predeceased in 1992 by his wife of fifty years, Nettie Aildean McNeill Routh. His parents and siblings, Hassie Routh Jones, Ervin Lester Routh, Nora Routh Kidd, George Worth Routh, and Edna Routh Andrews also predeceased him.
He is survived by his daughter, Robin Routh Croom and husband William Worth Croom of Asheboro. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jessica Croom Watson and husband Trevor Parks Watson of Salisbury and Anna Lee Croom Clark and her husband Andrew Logan Clark of Durham and great grandson, William Parks Watson. His is also survived by one sister, Pearl Routh Willett of Bennett.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 6, 2016 from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. His funeral will be at Balfour Baptist Church of Asheboro at 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 7, 2016.
