Lena Davis Brown, 85, of Asheboro passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at the Randolph Hospice House.
Mrs. Brown was born in Montgomery County on November 15, 1930 to Ira Spinks Davis and Martha Elizabeth Davis. Lena was a member of Hilltop Baptist Church where she was active in Vacation Bible School. In addition to her parents, Lena was preceded in death by her daughter, Libby Wallace, brothers, Grady, Elbert, Dennis, Lewis, Harvey, Dalton, and Waylon Davis, and sisters, Edith Allred and Loucendy Smith. She was a loving wife and mother 63 years. Lena was an avid sewer, making wedding and Easter dresses for her family. She enjoyed taking care of the neighbor's children. Lena was a lady who spoke her mind.
She is survived by her husband, Rev. Joseph Brown; sons, Benny (Sandra) Brown of West End, Phillip (Sherry) Brown of Asheboro; daughters, Sandra (Ronnie) Bescher of Randleman, Shirley (Donald) Beckham of Asheboro, Annette (Larry) Parks of Troy, Vivian Saunders of Asheboro; 13 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; brother, Winford (Sandra) Davis of Star; and sister, Amy (Paul) Hurley of Troy.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 28, 2016 from 1:00-2:00 pm at Richland Baptist Church, 2323 Old Humble Mill Rd., Asheboro and other times at her home. Funeral services will follow on Saturday at 2:00 pm at Richland Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Smith and Rev. Clifford VanVliet officiating. Burial will be held in Randolph Memorial Park.
