Lee Roy Allmon went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 10, 2017. He was born July 28, 1933, in Randolph County, to the late Thad Velpo "Doc" Allmon and Wilma Trotter Allmon. He spent over 45 years in the hosiery industry where he began his career pushing the "dope wagon" at Acme McCrary and ended it as Vice President of Research and Development at Jockey International. Mr. Allmon served as Sunday School Superintendent at Browers Wesleyan Church for over 35 years. He was known as a very loving, kindhearted, gentle and patient man that was deeply devoted to his Lord and his family.
Lee Roy was preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of over 63 years, Norma Jean Lewallen Allmon, and his brother, Lewis Franklin Allmon. He is survived by his son, Terry Allmon and his wife Sheila of Asheboro; grandson, Scott and his wife Jodie of Pendleton, South Carolina; granddaughters, Kelli Bodisch and her husband Rob of Montgomery, Alabama and Ashley Brewer and her husband Bristin of Bennett, North Carolina; great-grandchildren, Braxton, Brylie, Jackson, and Badin Allmon, Kyla, Emma, Ronan, Hana and Carson Bodisch, and Ella Brewer. He is also survived by his brothers James, Bobby, Fred, Billy, Johnny and sister Betty Thomas.
The family will receive friends Saturday, June 17, 2017 from 5:00-7:00pm at the home of Terry Allmon and also on Sunday, June 18, 2017 from 6:00-8:00pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, North Carolina. The funeral will be held Monday, June 19, 2017 at 11:00am at First Church of the Nazarene, 2657 Southmont Drive, Asheboro, North Carolina with Pastor Scott Allmon, Pastor Wyatt Hoogkamp, and Reverend Michael Parenti officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park.
