Lee Bimbo, of Asheboro, passed away peacefully July 27, 2013 at the age of 94. Mrs. Bimbo was born in Rockford, Illinois, and was a resident of Asheboro for 50 years. She was preceded in death by her husband Carl P. Bimbo.
Lee was an avid golfer and one of the founding members of the Women's Golf Association in Asheboro. She was a businesswoman and owner/partner in Asheboro Lincoln Mercury, the Biscuit Co., and the original Old Towne Deli.
Most of all, Lee was a devoted wife and mother.
Her family will miss her unconditional love, wisdom, and fabulous Italian cooking.
Lee is survived by her sons, Carl L. Bimbo and his wife Ingrid of Rockledge, Fl., and Steve F. Bimbo and his wife Pam of Asheboro. She had five grandchildren. Laura Smith of Tampa, Fl., Carla Fleischman of Lake Mary, Fl., Steven Bimbo of Charlotte, Donna O'Sullivan of Durham, and John Bimbo of Asheboro. She had four great-grandchildren; Luca and Lily Smith and Jackson and Skylar O'Sullivan. She is also survived by a sister, Gene Sandona of Rockford, IL.
A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Crossroads Retirement Community, 1302 Old Cox Road, Asheboro.
