Laura Jean Richardson

Laura Jean Trogdon Richardson, age 97, of 4471 Randleman Lake Road, Randleman died Sunday, September 15, 2013 at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro. The funeral will be Friday, September 20, 2013 at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church 100 N. Main Street, Randleman with Rev. Kenneth L. Reaves and Rev. Edward Arroyo officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro. Mrs. Richardson was born April 2, 1916 the daughter of Curney Estus and Delphine Elizabeth Dennis Trogdon. Mrs. Richardson was a native of Randolph County and retired from Commonwealth-Wesock Hosiery of Randleman. She was the oldest member of First Baptist Church, Randleman where she had worked in the junior department and taught Sunday School. She participated in, and won, the Bible Trivia Quiz Contest, in the Courier-Tribune newspaper, for many years running; winning Bibles for each of her children. She always enjoyed yard work and her flowers. Laura Jean is preceded in death by: her husband: Penn Richardson, son: Raymond Richardson, granddaughter: Leigh Ann Richardson and siblings: Iris Oug, Reginald Trogdon, Hilda Trogdon and Lois Gamble. She is survived by: son and his wife, Richard and Judy Richardson of Randleman, NC; daughter and her husband: Linda and Roy Smith of Farmer, NC; daughter and her husband: Pennie and Bill Davidson of Asheboro, NC; daughter and her husband: Sandra and Van Adams of Randleman, NC; daughter and her husband: Lois and Paul Hinshaw of Asheboro, NC; daughter and her husband: Karen and Roger Wooten of Asheboro, NC; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Thursday, September 19, 2013 from 6 - 8 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 South Main Street, Randleman, NC. Memorials may be made to Hospice Of Randolph, P.O.
