Larry James Stevens, age 61, of 3857 Plainfield Rd., Sophia died Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at High Point Regional Hospital, High Point.
Mr. Stevens was born January 30, 1950 in Asheboro, NC the son of James Vernie and Ellen Lawson Stevens.
Mr. Stevens was a native of Randolph County and a veteran of the US Army Special Forces 5th SOG serving in Vietnam. He was a truck driver and mechanic for most of his life and a member of Central Carolina Community Church in Asheboro. Larry was a very devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and made many friends over the years. He was preceded in death by his father; James Vernie Stevens and a brother; Wayne Stevens.
He is survived by his wife: Sharon Walker Stevens, one daughter: Amanda Dawn Macon and her husband, Justin Macon of Ramseur, NC, grandchildren: T.J. Macon and Kala Macon both of Ramseur, mother: Ellen Lawson Stevens of Sophia, sister: Ann Swan of Sophia, NC and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Thursday, February 3, 2001 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 South Main Street, Randleman, NC.
Funeral services will be Friday, February 4, 2001 at 2:00 PM at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, 600 South Main Street, Randleman with Rev. Edward J. Arroyo officiating. Burial will follow at Randolph Memorial Park with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
