Larry Clayton Hunt

d. August 12, 2017

Larry Clayton Hunt, army veteran, photographer and tactical fisherman died Saturday, August 12, 2017 at his home. He was a very loving and supportive husband to his wife of many years, Irmgard Hunt.

Larry grew his own tomatoes and cayenne peppers, which he ate with corn on the cob until sweat dripped from his face. He loved Duke basketball, boxing and baseball, but thought professional sports were ruined by greed.

Larry served in the Army with the 3rd Armored Division in Germany and shared many stories about his fellow soldier Elvis Presley, getting into fights and late night poker games. In high school Larry was a sharp dresser and took his fashion cues from no one. Larry was interested in politics and enjoyed watching politicians act like preachers and preachers act like politicians.

Larry's temper got him nicknamed "Big L" but that was rivaled only by a great sense of humor, and a strong belief in honesty, truth and working hard for what you want in life.

He was preceded in death by his Mother, Kathleen Hunt, whom he dearly loved, and Father, Sulon Hunt, whom he loved and worshiped.

Larry is survived by wife, Irmgard Wilczek Hunt; daughters, Susan Hunt (Tim Campbell) of Asheboro, Ginger Leigh Hunt of Asheboro; son, Larry Scott Hunt (Cori Cagle)of Asheboro; stepdaughters, Christiane, Petra; stepson, Hans Jurgen, all of Germany; grandchildren, Keaton, Ella and Cruz of Asheboro, Jasmin, David, Kevin, Michial, Sandra and Samantha of Germany. Special niece, Marieanne Saintsing (Cliff) and former wife Barbara Johnson Hunt.

Two services will occur as follows: A memorial will be held Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at 9:00 am at Pugh Funeral Home in Asheboro followed by Military Honors.

Also a Memorial Service on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at 11:00 am at The First United Methodist Church, 224 N. Fayetteville St. Asheboro, NC.
