Larry ”Pop” Lee Hollingsworth, age 71, of Sophia died Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.
Mr. Hollingsworth was born August 7, 1946 the son of Hassell and Lottie Brower Hollingsworth.
Larry was a native of Randolph County and served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. Larry, also known as Pop, was a farmer through and through. His favorite pastimes were visiting family and friends and telling his stories. Pop was always snacking and rarely passed up a good meal. His fun loving, jolly personality will be greatly missed by many loving friends in the community.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years: Marie “Tootie” Murray Hollingsworth of the home; daughters: Jodi Smith and husband Cliff of Mooresville, and Toni Hollingsworth-Hsu and husband Ivan Hsu of Charlotte; grandchildren: Gavin Hollingsworth, Easton and Emery Smith; brothers: T.R. Hollingsworth and wife MaryAnne, Curt Hollingsworth and wife Pat and Dale Hollingsworth and wife Andy all of Sophia; many nieces and nephews and extended family.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, August 19, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Midway Wesleyan Church, 331 Worthville Rd., Randleman with Rev. J. Arnold Luther officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
