Kip Schroder died August 14, 2008 at Wesley Long Hospital in Greensboro, N.C. Kip was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil April 4, 1952. He was preceded in death by his mother, Cela Callahan, father, Leroy Charles Schroder and brother, Pat Schroder. Kip is survived by Cindy Schroder, his loving wife of 20 years and three sisters: Lelia Fortuna and her husband Nick of New Castle, Pennsylvania, Linda Wilson and her husband Steve of Houston, Texas and Laura Taylor and her husband Mike of Bradenton, Florida; and sister-in-law: Delaine Mehder and her husband Steve of Greensboro, North Carolina. Kip was a Junior Olympic swimmer as a young man. He graduated from DuBois High School, DuBois, Pennsylvania in 1970 where he excelled in track, golf, basketball, and football. During his senior year he was the District Nine Track and Field champion in the 220-yard dash and the high jump. He was also a member of DuBois' victorious 880-yard relay team. He played varsity football at Lehigh University graduating in 1974 with a degree in accounting. Kip loved sports and excelled at many. Kip retired as controller from Goodyear Asheboro in 2004 after a 30-year career. He was a former member of Asheboro Rotary Club and currently served on the YMCA Board of Trustees. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Asheboro. Kip loved golf, loved to dance, and loved people. He was a great friend to all who knew him. Kip never met a stranger. His love of life was contagious. Kip always had a smile for everybody and when you say the name Kip, you cant help but smile. His friends and family will miss him dearly. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 17, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at the First United Methodist Church, 224 North Fayetteville Street, Asheboro with Rev. Michael Holder, Rev. Susan Mitchell, and Rev. Howard Allred officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 16, 2008 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro. Memorials may be made to the Randolph Cancer Center, 713 South Fayetteville Street, Asheboro, NC 27203 or to the charity of the donor's choice.
