Kenneth Dalton Yates, age 70, of Denton passed away on Thursday, April 19, 2018 at W.G. Hefner Medical Center in Salisbury.
Mr. Yates was born in Denton, NC on February 20, 1948 to Ralph and Rillie Hunt Yates, who preceded him in death. Dalton served his country in the U.S. Army Honor Guard. He was formerly employed with Davis, Martin & Powell, Black and Veatch, and Moore-Gardner. He also owned and operated Jackson Creek Automotive. He attended Piney Grove United Methodist Church. Dalton loved rebuilding cars. He enjoyed going to beach, boating in the Pontoon and riding jet skis at the lake.
He is survived by his wife, Jane K. Yates of the home; daughter, Jamie Lynn Yates and fiancé Darwin Smith of Asheboro; his grand cats; sister, Brenda Yates and fiancé Homer Williams of Eagle Springs; brother, Dennis Yates and wife Vickie of Denton; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 22, 2018 from 1:00-2:30 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro. A graveside service will follow Sunday at 3:00 pm at Pierce's Chapel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, 2661 Ross Wood Road, Trinity with Rev. Mack Summey and Rev. Brad Treece officiating and with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard and the NC National Guard.
